Me, or Helland? No matter, I guess, I'm going to reply anyway (albeit a bit late). :-)

From my experience, I'd say your odds are good. Using the VS7 install, installing just VFP won't make much of a difference since the installer is still going to want to install the Windows Component update before it lets you get to the VS install. The Windows Component update is the only real sticking point you're likely to run into, from what I've seen. If you can get past that, it should be smooth from there.

That being said, I haven't seen any problems with the Beta 1 build install. I've installed it at work on various name-brand boxes, and I've installed it at home on my mongrel 450. No problems with any of them (the 450 is a tad slow, but certainly usable). Just have lots of disk space on both the install drive and the system drive, as John has pointed out.
