I'd say that Charlie's scenario of a desktop app getting using the Internet as its network, with Web Connect on the backend, is a very good model and provides an area where VFP can shine, both on the front and back end of that equation.
Sure, you can do the frontend with another language and still get the data from the VFP Web Connect app and/or VFP-based Web Services. It's just another scenario where VFP works very well.
Do you think that these capabilities are somehow BAD news for VFP?
