>I'm trying to understand how writing the Bible could help understand the universe. As for historical accuracy, there are many instances where the noted archeologists and historians said the bible was just a storybook. Then someone unearths something like the Dead Sea scrolls. There's just too much evidence that supports the Bible as a divine document.
There's plenty of evidence the other way, too. I'm not an expert in this subject, so I'll throw out just one simple example. There are two different versions of the creation story in Genesis. They differ. How can that be if the Bible is to be read literally?
Also (I know, I said one), do you think God wrote the Psalms? If so, wouldn't that be pretty tacky - to write all these hymns of praise to oneself? If not, then are you saying that God wrote the rest, but allowed this one section written by man to be part of the document?
