you could use the Microsoft RTF control to enter text and store the RTF-string in a memo-field. With this option the Codepage of the table is completele irrelevant. I do this most of my applications where I need to print Simple and Complex Chinese, Polish, Czech, etc. There is a demo available in VFP6.

The only problem is that you will need to use a tool that is able to print RTF and neither MS-Word or VFP is suited for this. We have solved it at our end using a special RTF-print engine.
