This is an intermittent problem involving an application with about 250 different forms etc. My best information (from 200 miles away) is that it is most prevalent during batch type updates, for example we have a program that SCANs a table, does various calculations on each record and creates a 2nd table from it. This one is a frequent freezer, so to speak. I have not heard of any freezes happening while sitting in a data-entry form for example.

It does run from the server on a shared drive. I would have real difficulties loading the executable on the clients simply because it is an in-house program that undergoes frequent modifications, and having a central location to upload the new versions is priceless, from an administration standpoint.

Regular table maintenence as to reindexing and packing is being done.
There are about 25 users on a 100Mbit network, with a reasonable capacity, dual processor NT 4 server. (Dual 500Mhz PIII's with 512 MB RAM installed)

The business is sensitive to heavy workloads during October, November and December each year, so the activity has been more intense. We have had some hardware failures which have been taken care of. (a bad network switch, since replaced). I am looking for people who have had a similar experience, to look for parallels in our situation.

As to changes, we do have a larger number of higher speed workstations than before due to some upgrading, otherwise configurations, database size and such are pretty stable.

Thanks,
