I am not saying that your perception is right or worng, only that it does require some reading between the lines. At no point did Craig explicitly say, "I know all and you should follow my advice because it is from me and for no other reason." although his lack of explanation *may* be seen as *implying* that.

Aw, gee, does that mean Craig is no longer omniscient? < g,d&r >

It may be that Craig made an assumption that Windows developers would be familiar with the issues of the Windows GUI specification, and that simply stating that it's not generally recommended that you blindly ignore them was an adequate response. It certainly does not demand that the villagers go grab pitchforks, axes and torches and go off to storm the castle to rid the UT of Berntsenstein...

Then again, I'm probably going to be condemned as a syncophant lackey, guilty of blindly backing my fellow MVP and business partner.

If people find Craig's responses to messages to be inadequate, condescending, or otherwise objectionable, the PUTM "twit filter" is a wonderful enhancement that can eliminate those horrible messages from bothering the PUTM - you can simply not have Craig's messages appear at all in your message summaries. Maybe that's enough incentive to some greviously offended users to shell out some $ to filter out what they percieve to be useless noise - I certainly rely on it to make my life much easier.

I do recommend that if they're gonna twit out Craig, they add me, too, on a preemptive basis; I'm far more likely to offend genteel sensibilities (I think I hold the current record for number of times responding with "RTFM" here on UT, and I've applied for trademark recognition) and I'm trying to reach the level of tact and decorum set for us by JVP...Craig's an angel comparatively.
