Welcome to the UT. I'm late to this thread, so I'll not comment on the previous discussions other than to say that mostly the UT is a pretty friendly place and a great place to get lots of free tech support from some very knowledgeable people.

There are the occasional squabbles between posters and a few long-running feuds, but generally you'll probably like it here. Please don't let this first awkward experience stop you from posting more questions, or from contributing answers to others' questions.
