Yes I noticed that in the help for data session it says the following.

SET DATASESSION is typically used to debug forms, and should not be issued when a form is active.


This made me a bit nervous so I decided to poke around for other ways to do what I want.

However it does seem like the sort of constraint I am tempted to ignore from time to time.


Perhaps its ok to use it with caution.
