Gerry,

No answer, but some sympathy...

I had tried many times to get WebConnect to work on my Win98SE machine, without success. It was clear from the docs that PWS was not at all a good option for WC development work, and I had (essentially) proof of that when the office system running Win2K ran it flawlessly.

So I got the idea that *maybe* WinME would solve the problem, having heard much about ME being much like W2K in as many respects as possible. I got the upgrade, installed it, went looking for PWS and couldn't find it. Ultimately I went to MS knowledgebase and searched on PWS and got a hit stating that PWS was *not* included in WinME and that no version of PWS was supported on WinME. Nothing more.

The only consolation I got out of it was that now there is no question of my developing/testing on my home machine (until I put W2K on it).

Of course I was pissed that there was nothing evident stating this fact and it led me to wonder what else has been dropped without fanfare or notice of any kind.

Cheers,

JimM
