>But don't worry: With the class warfare that the leftists here want to start, the continued voodoo victimology promulgated by minority leaders, and the propensity for Democratic lawmakers to penalize the "haves" to play to their power-base of the "have-nots" we'll soon be dragged into the same mud.

John;

Your terms "haves and have nots" brought back memories better forgotten perhaps. First I spend many hours in Sociology classes in college and learned all the “bleeding heart terminology and its meanings”. During the wonderful years of the Bush Administration we had 60,000 unemployed Electronics Engineers here in Silicon Valley, and I was one of them. When President Bush was campaigning here against Clinton, he was asked what he was going to do to help solve that problem of unemployment amongst the electronics engineers. I was a member of the audience and will not forget the answer: "There are plenty of jobs at McDonalds - next question", was the response from President Bush. I do not think that McDonalds could have hired all 60,000 of us engineers or the many others unemployed at that time in electronics manufacturing. He could have simply stated: “I have a job therefore there is no employment problem and you can go to hell – because I do not care”! It would have had the same effect on me!

Because of the above incident I added a term to the concept of "haves and have nots" and told those around me. I called it the “use to haves”. That was for those of us who had through higher education and hard work bought houses, had families and lost all or most of what we had worked for because of circumstances beyond our control.

One thing I will say for President Clinton, he did keep his promise to Silicon Valley and assisted this area in many ways. That is something I appreciate and will not forget. One of the ways that he assisted us was establishing training programs for professionals that were funded by the Federal, and State governments and local industries. These programs had a very positive effect in getting many back to work – even in new career fields. I went into programming and am able to support my family. As for his other activities that are often under discussion, I will allow God to judge him and get on with my life.

Tom
