Thanks for the post

I'm just about done on the topic!

I suppose my last word would be that I don't often leap in on UT or anywhere else and my miserably low message count confirms that.

In UT I only jump in when I think something is said that is misleading or unhelpful, especially if said by somebody who is doing it on purpose. I see that a bit from a particular person who promotes his own small corner of the universe as the "only way" and rudely attacks those who disagree. The "biggies" would have to be on the RV/SP/SPT front (there, I said it!) and apart from issues exploding from the gentle exchanges surrounding that topic, I don't recall getting into heated exchanges here for a while.

This current topic has resulted in some somewhat surprising reactions. You'd think I'd kicked the sacred cow.

An award for "contribution to online forums" is a bit like an Olympic medal. *BY DEFINITION* You get it for visible achievement and achieve public approval for your excellence. Some people here seem to think that Olympic medals should be dished out by the Olympic Committee without any requirement for visibility. Anybody who questions is told "get real, buster, they are entitled to keep their business processes secret" or scolded for daring to question the mighty. Meanwhile some recipients report that medals are secretly proposed for people who "would have won except they were too busy to compete". Yes, MS is different from the Olympics but an award for visible achievement is an award for visible achievement whether you are a public company or an international co-operative.

If anything comes out of this thread, it is that perhaps next time we will be able to see where various MVP's "hang out" and benefit from their excellence. If I contributed to that, great. If I was just a PITA, I'm sorry about that.

Regards

JR
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
