>Something important to me: I am not happy with some harsh words towards George Tasker and Ed Rauh. In my point of view both of them are invaluable supporters of this forum. That wouldn't give them the right to be offensive or whatever they are accused to be, but I never got the feeling that George is doing anything like that. Just the opposite of that, I often see him beeing considerate towards newcomers giving explanations and examples patiently. Ed is harder to take, that is because of his almost vanishing gap between irony and sarcasm - IMHO. While sarcasm to me seems to be inappropriate in public discussions, irony is a gift, accessible to those with a lot of intellect only. Since to my experiance most people are not gifted, ironic remarks are often taken as offensive. I have changed some messages with him (Thread #322685), and that made me understand and accept the way he acts - most of it. To take out the community metaphor again, it is ok to have people like him in the community
>as it is ok to have people like you drawing attention to something that might be dangerous to the communities balance.

Thanks for understanding that I don't put much distance between humor and annoyance; at times, they may seem indistinguishable. The past few weeks have been a bit trying for me for a number of reasons, and hopefully, I'll be able to participate a bit more in the future.

WRT my input on code and FAQ entries, I've come to the conclusion that far more people are offended that I post anything but pristine code meeting the guidelines of style and form du jour. To that end, I'll post far less code in the future in messages; what code I do post will be in Files on Win API documents, available either on UT or through my own Web site. While this will mean that my comments here on UT will be less informative, there's less danger of annoying someone with a typo or a snippet that would allow small children to injure themselves if they really try hard enough. With the enhanced twit filter, I won't see the posts of the people whose content is annoying and disturbing to me, and if I miss something of great imortance as a result, that's my decision. Meanwhile, I am working with VFP 7 in a few relatively bizarre and for the moment unimportant areas; when I have something to say and pristine code to accompany it, I'll let people know.

In the meantime, I'm back in school and working again, and will pop in from time to time between classes and work on my dissertation.
