Hi Larry

>I disagree with your hyposthesis that one person has "used" (not just looked at) many frameworks. The problem I see with that is that once you find a framework that does what you want, why would you go out and use another one with the same strengths. For example, IMO, VFE and MM have very similar strengths. Both are OO-based frameworks and great for n-tier development so I don't see one person using both. The investment would be too great for the return.

Looks like you have been proved right on the above. No one with more experience than 2 frameworks has posted to this thread. I had hoped (as Nick pointed out) that there would be contractors who have moved bewteen several sites using a different framework on each. This seems to be rare.

>However, I do see people using different frameworks where the strengths are very different. For example, the current version of VMP is form-based and the framework works very well to create desktop and 2-tier (client/server) applications. I know of a couple of people that have used VMP and VFE because of the differences (Mike Yearwood, Fletcher Johnson - actually does work for AppDev and I believe trains on both).

I really like VMP but I think tying myself into form based logic is a bad move for the future.
VFE sounds great, but any hint that a FW may be slow at showing forms is the kiss of deathfor me. We have VB programmers here who bang on about VFP being slow in those areas anyway.(They have to do this because VFP beats them in every other way)

Thanks for the Feedback

>Kelly Conway did an in-depth analysis of most (if not all) of the commercial frameworks for FoxTalk. He has changed jobs since those days but you can get his new e-mail from his entry on the Wiki. You might be able to get some new insights from him.
