Have you created explicit shares on the Win2K system, and granted the userid used by the Win98 system rights to those resources? You can only access explicitly shared resources through dial-up netowrking; it's not a situation similar to the remote control connection provided by a product like PCAnywhere.

In all probability, using a commercial product like PCAnywhere is the easiest solution - it can permit either machine to act as host, and access to resources does not demand detailed and explicit definition via the OS - PCAnywhere can be set up to expose all resources of the host without explicitly creating networking shares. At under $100 for a copy, the ease of use will probably cover the cost.

>By way of background the 2 machines in question have their own modems and sit on the same network with static IP addresses. This is a test to try and identify potential problems. Other forums often feature this question but offer no answers.
