>VB.NET or VB in general is not dead. The VB community is up-in-arms over having to rewrite their apps in VB.NET. Some people have compared it to FPW 2.6 to VFP conversions. MSFT does have a upgrade tool but we know how good those work.
This conversation has been happening at the OR lately, and I've seen this sort of comment more than once too (I'm posting it just for objectivities sake):
"Ah jeez, don't tell me you reactionaries are getting organised? Does that mean that we the enlightened few will have to mount a pro .NET movement too? I can't be bothered.
For all you poor non-betas out there who have not yet had the privelage of seeing .NET in action then I can tell you it is truly awesome. Its like somebody has been sitting at your side taking notes these last few years and each time you have sworn at the syntax or cursed the IDE they have scribbled furiously. Now I know you will here a lot of old boys (thats you Colin) belting on and on about how difficult it is to migrate from the ALTAIR in the garage but you should not pay them any attention.
These guys have the reps to consider after all."
