What is your definition of small? A project may seem at first "small", but as soon as you start documenting the requirements, interviewing the users and start putting together the Use Cases they can grow quite large.

Whil Hentzen's 1999 Software Developer's Guide is a good place to start for some of the management. Also take a look at Section 3 of Marcus Eggar's book, Advanced Object Oriented Programming with VFP 6, for some of the more techincal details.
