My base table doesn't have a memo field, but I want my updatable view, or cursor to have one. I can say 'select space(10) as spacefield', but how can i say something like 'select memo(10) as mymemofield'.

How can I create the memo on the fly, unless i do a join from a dummy table that has a memo already in it -
