Just to let you good folks know…..

I went to the school board chair and told her that if certain things did not happen and happen quickly that the ACLU and the local TV stations from Atlanta would all be present at the next school board meeting. Today I heard from the principal at that school and this what has happened:

A new policy that no female student is every searched by a male official of the school or the local law enforcement. The deputy has been reprimanded and the school official that was there (an assistant principal) was also reprimanded.

For this type situation the law enforcement will not even be notified until there is 100% proof that a crime has been committed.

The assistant principal was reprimanded for reading the diary.

The school board will be discussing the possibility of enacting a policy that parents be notified and have the option of being present when a search is done.

The student that told the lie has been punished.

From all of this it is pretty plain that the school board understood that they were on very thin ice. So it looks like this can be put to rest. I sure did learn a lot. I think it is sad that our kids loose their rights when they go to school. How hypocritical it is to demand that they understand civics and the constitution and then turn around and say that it does not really apply to THEM!

Again... thanks for all the support.
