>>>If you are going to write an accounting package, I hope you are a practicing accountant or have very inexpensive access to one. Otherwise, I would recommend AccountMate. Call Helen Childs @AccountMate 800-877-8896 ext 533 and explain what you are trying to do. She could steer you to the tech people there to answer your questions, etc.
>>>Good Luck!

>>I'm not an accountant, but I play one on TV. All kidding aside, I've been working closely with accounting systems and accountants for the last 15+ years so I'd say I qualify to write an accounting system. In fact, I did write an A/P module for a prior employer years ago and I've worked on many apps over the years that have integrated tightly with accounting systems and mainframes. But I don't want to reinvent the wheel if I don't have to. I'll look at AccountMate's website and see what I think.

Daniel,

The answer is ... I don't have an answer yet. I never found an accounting package written in any of the common commercial frameworks. I'd still like to see that happen and have been talking to a few vendors, but nothing yet.

The project I was researching for is somewhat on the back burner right now so I haven't put a whole lot of thought into it lately. But at the time, the client was considering having his app integrate with VersaPro Accounting and/or QuickBooks. VersaPro Accounting is by Zland software and is written in VFP, but you don't get source code. But we could read and write to the dbf files without a problem. Quickbooks is what he is using now and I'm not sure how to integrate a VFP app with it, but I did see a long thread a while ago about that topic.

Sorry I can't give you a better answer.
