>>>Hi All!
>>>
>>>I was pointed in the direction of this Catalyst Socket Tools by an associate. Sems to include alot of things useful to me: FTP socket, Telnet Client, Ping Control, SMTP, RAS, etc. All in one neat package that is promoted as an add-on for VB. From what I understand though it should still be just as useful for me in VFP. The website is http://www.catalyst.com (see Socket Tools listed under products).
>>>
>>>Anybody else out there ever use this package? Granted I'm a VFP newbie but it seems to have so much of what I need it's almost too good to be true.

>>Crescent Software has an ActiveX package called "Internet ToolPak". It has FTP, HTTP, Internet Mail, Telenet, etc. I've been able to get the FTP control to work, but haven't played with the others. As for their support, it's the usual, "We only support VB" nonsense. In order to get a response from them, I had to translate the problem into VB, and when I got the same result, then they were helpful.

>hmmm... I sent the vendor of this one I'm looking at an email asking them specifically if VFP is supported. But here's the full quote of what their website states in regards to environments supported:
>
>"Each control is delivered as a VBX (Visual Basic Control) *as well as* 16-bit and 32-bit ActiveX (OLE Custom Control) components. This means that any Windows development environment that supports ActiveX controls (such as Visual C++, Delphi, Access, PowerBuilder, etc.) can use Socket Tools."

>See why I say it sounds too good to be true? Will let you know what the vendor's respone is when I get it.

P.S.
They do have a 30 day evaulation copy available for download. But since I'm the lone programmer here with 4 stacks of projects fighting for my attention on my desk I just dont have the time to test & play with this. But man it looks cool! Especially this Socket Wrench component, although I dont know what use I'd have for it... but my theory is you cant have enough tools ;)
