>I am runing SQL Server 7.0 on Win2000 professional. In the the SQL Server Enterprise manager when designing a table the "Allow Nulls" column cannot be checked for BIT field types. This prevents me from adding a BIT field to an existing table as the table cannot be saved because it contains nulls in the new BIT field.

I'm not sure, but I think if you put in a default value you will be able to add your field. Of course, all your records will have that default value.
