Peter,

>>Also make sure your system does use good HP printer drivers. Some are notorious because of causing problems in programming languages like FoxPro.

My development machine does have an HP printer on it, an old HP 550C ink-jet printer. I was considering getting a newer printer (probably the Brother HL-1240 laser). Perhaps I will speed up that decision and see if it helps.

This would not solve your problem. The printerdriver is used for various tasks. For example it is used when displaying a preview on the screen for rendering fonts. Some API calls and Foxtools routines also touches the printerdriver and also could cause C0000005 errors. Sometimes it helps to set another default printer, but succes is not guaranteed.

If you'd install another compatible (MS certified) printerdriver (like that one that comes with your Windows install CD) you would rule out this problem. Further it seems important that the client has the latest Internet explorer installed. By doing so, a lot of system files get updated and improves system stability. We've seemed to have solved a lot of problems by installing IE 5.0 on W95 machines, which frequently were visited by fatal errors.

By ensuring yourself that you're using the latest drivers for other components like sound, video, etc. you might reduce the chances on a C0000005 error.
