I am not a brilliant programmer - but I like programming (even after 18 years of coding). Foxpro suits my personality and I think that this must be a true factor in why Foxpro has such a loyal following.

I have always liked to be just outside the loop. I owned the first MAC and programmed in Turbo Pascal. And when I was looking for a PC database, I gravitated to the DOS Foxpro 2.0 (that valiantly tried to emulate the Mac desktop on a PC screen, including desk accessories ). If you like to cheer for the underdog - if you want to live just outside of the crowd. Foxpro attracts a certain type of programmer - one that wants to get the job done at a minimal time and cost. It's as simple as that. If someone had to pay out of their own pocket to develop a medium sized system, there is NO substitute. NO SUBSTITUTE. Unfortunately, there is little glory or reward for prople who try to save time and money in government or large companies.

Foxpro programmers - such as myself - don't put earnings first. If we did, we would become ABAP programmers or Oracle DBA ZOMBIES and get 30 % more money...
I know of no more encouraging fact than the unquestionable ability of man to elevate his life by a conscious endeavor.
