Hi Nick,

>I also tried to run DCOM server on Windows 98, but unsuccessfully. DCOM server does not *really* work on Win 98, at least me and many others could not get it working. IMHO, it is just not worth trying. The server should have NT or Windows 2000 then you will have no problems.

Windows 98 works, if you don't care about security issues and there's someone who can restart the server application if it's hanging. What didn't worked for you?

IAC, Windows 2000 or NT are really the way to go. Windows 98 is more suited for testing, or if you have a small peer-to-peer network (eg. in a small shop) and you want to use a little bit of DCOM for some simple stuff.
