This could be related to your project being built on a drive other than C. I have seen problems like this when our old FP 2.6 project were on the Novell drive and we built the exe from there. When users ran our exe from their c drive it would look for data in the CD drive. If there was something in the CD drive it ran OK, if not then it errored out. So once we moved our projects down to the C drive and compiled from there the problem went away. George Tasker had a post on this at one time if I find it I will reply with a pointer to it.
