>Why do you suggest a notebook? I always nixed the idea as I always found the notebook+docking station more expensive than a comparable desktop, plus it is harder and more expensive, if at all possible, to expand later. I'm open to new ideas, considering that again I do not *need* a notebook/laptop but it would be nice to take on trips and to DevCons.
Alex;
Need and budget dictates if you should consider a notebook computer or not. I have had a notebook computer for the last six years and each time I have brought it to a clients site for a new contract, I got the job. Also, for those occasions when I was looking for full time employment I got the job whenever I brought and gave a demo of a recent application I had developed.
Going to seminars and training sessions is another time I am glad to have my notebook with me. Some classes have computers and some do not. I find that putting all the class work on my notebook is a great way to go - it is available to me when I want to review it.
I tend to get lower end notebooks and higher end desktops, with all serious work being done on the desktop.
