Glenn,

>Our tech support department has been using the same support system for over seven years and it is getting rather long in the tooth. Instead of allocating development resources to a new support system we have decided to purchase one if it meets our needs. Can anyone suggest a good candidate?

I guess it depends on what you mean by "support system," but let's think outside the box for a moment. If you're talking about bug-reporting and tracking, you might want to look at the web-based solutions like http://www.bugcentral.com/ or a new one hosted somewhere at www.devx.com.

The BugCentral one is built with VFP and Web Connection, and might work well for purposes other than just reporting software bugs.

Another idea is to use a custom wiki for storing and updating your knowledgebase of solutions. You could talk with Steven Black about that. I know he has set up custom wikis for several development companies for internal communication and collaboration. In fact, I think Markus Egger put an article up on the fox.wikis.com about how EPS Software uses a wiki.
