However, all references to "useability" that I have consulted seem to indicate that 12 Point should be the rule (and NEVER below 10 Point); these studies make particular reference to the "over 40" crowd when it comes to being able to read our Forms.

What you could do is look in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Appearance, check the scheme setup, then hack HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Appearance\Schemes to find out what the font settings are, then reset on the fly. Sorry, I don't have any sample code to do this.
