Please I'am not kidding

I said in my own statusbar, its name is something like: thisform.mibar.panels.items(1).text=",,,,," it's working with the statusbartext property of controls. My question is about the messages of the menu items. Is there a way to catch or intercept the "default" behaivor of the message?
