I never said these shops were productively deploying .Net. I said they were moving all development that way.

Now, forget the marketing. Look at the entire .Net picture, not just VS.Net. Office, Servers, OS... everything from MS is moving that direction. It *will* be used and accepted, if for no other reason, MS will force people to move that direction.
