>You must have been Air Force. In '68 the Marines still had .45 ACPs, which as a radioman was my TE weapon. They were a piece or work. I qual'ed "expert" with the weapon in training. In March, '68 at the Sandbox near DaNang, I fired 6 aimed rounds at a running VC from a stable firing position -- I think I scared him a little. After than I adopted the CAR-15 as my personal weapon.

I was a tank crewman in the Army from '84 to '87, and we had .45's as our sidearms too. All of them were WW2 vintage and flat wore out. The one I was first issued was so bad it put the rounds in the bottom right corner of a half-sillouette, even though I was aiming off the top left shoulder, at about 8 yards. I'da done better throwing it.
