Hi Mark,
Thank you. I believe you are absolutely correct that trapping for navigation keystrokes in the surrounding columns' CurrentContol's keypress events would yield how the combobox was entered. I may need to fall back on this. The ideal solution I'm hopping for is more direct, one I can build it into my grid Combobox class.
Apparently the Combobox's MouseDown event fires before the Combobox's When event. I'd like to use something like this to set the value of a Combobox custom property flag or flags to do two things: 1) reveal if a mouse click brought focus to the control and 2) permit a conditional override of the dropdown list default behavior. I can do either independently but haven't yet managed both simultaneously. It has been a bit more complex than I initially expected.
Actually, the Up and Down arrow keys, inside my Combobox, do act as normal navigation keys except when the dropdown list is visible. My Combobox "knows" whether the dropdown list is up or down.
If I can simply just get this one additional functionality figured out before I grow really old I'll be a happy camper. I need to work at this a bit longer and really am open to any assistance out there. Thanks!
