>One of the more encouraging signs at DevCon was the number of first time attendees. During the keynote speech, the first-timers were an overwhelming majority of the audience.

>Tamar Granor put a different spin on this statistic when, during her talk "Using SQL-Select Effectively in VFP 5", she asked how many people started using FoxPro with version 5.0. Out of a perhaps 250 people, less than 10 people raised their hands! When she asked how many first-timers the majority of the croud raised ther hand.

Or is there a larger group of people who are going to convert their 2.6 app(s) and wanted to attend DevCon before taking the plunge? I guess we'll never know, but it is a strange statistic, don't you think?

I'm only a sample of one here, but I'm in the above majority groups...I've been with vfp since its inception, but this was my 1st Devcon, since this is the 1st time management gave me the thumbs up...I've already got funding for the next one, also...

Some 1st-timers I spoke with at Devcon indicated that a combination of curiousity and the good economy played strong roles in both desire to attend and their getting the funding to attend, so I think you're on the right track with that...
