Hi to all,
I would like to have your comments and oppinions concerning the following scenario. Our three main applications (VFP 5.0 EXEs) reside on our server (Win NT Server 4.0 SP 5), which also hosts the DBC the three of them access and share.
All the EXEs are monolithic, and we have only one COMponent running on each client PC servicing certain functionality.
Actually we are facing some problems such as the poor response time of the applications. Someone has told my boss that installing Windows 2000 Terminal Services on the server would help considerably to reduce the response time and make the apps run faster. On the other hand I think that this is a problem that should be addressed by re-thinking the full architecture of the applications, considering that not only speed, but concurrence, data consistency and integrity issues are frequently detected.
What do you think? Have you ever installed Terminal Services to improve the performance of VPF apps? Do you consider it is time to rebuild our apps?
Thank you very much for your comments!
