Wonderful story. I wish that I had the talent to have been in that sort of position.

While Segovia may have done the music world a great favor in his transcription of Bach for the guitar (The Chaconne from the 2nd Violin Partita is a favorite of mine), I much preferred the transcriptions of Julian Bream. I felt he was much truer to Bach's intentions for the music (and I could never understand why Segovia made some of the choices in key that he did. As I recall, he transcribed the Allemande from the 1st Lute Suite into Dm < I think > rather than the Em it was written in).
