Can you think of a reason that Pack/Reindex did not work and recreate the index tags on my table at the client site when the indexes mysteriously disappeared? They got a message that the Primary key was invalid (there wasn't one anymore), and I had to download their data and used APPEND to append their data to a new empty table in order to restore these indices. Then I had to VALIDATE DATABASE RECOVER. Was there another method I'm missing?

>No. DBCXMgr's Validate method assumes the meta data is missing or incomplete but that the DBC and tables are correct, so it creates or updates the meta data from the DBC and table structures. That really is a development-time tool. What you want is the opposite <s> Use SDT's Reindex method to recreate indexes, Repair to repair table and memo headers, and Update to update table structures at the client site.
