You've got some good advise from Vlad.

One thing you may want to consider is looking at a framework for VFP. There are many good frameworks available for VFP. They include many features out of the box that would take you weeks or months to develop from scratch. Sure there's a learning curve and a price to pay. But IMHO it's well worth the effort.
