In VFP, buffering is definitely the better approach. That's the one that's going to continue to be enhanced as needed. Except for SCATTER/GATHER NAME, SCATTER/GATHER are pretty much supported only for backward compatibility.
Seems to me his argument is pretty much the same as saying that he only wants to use @GET/READ in VFP because he understands them.
