>Unfortunately, having Visual FoxPro “in the box”, did not impress anyone I have dealt with. IT directors all the way through other developers (non VFP) could not be impressed to use VFP. Reasons given have been hashed out many times but the main one given in the San Francisco Bay Area has been the Microsoft sales persons – they talked in negative terms according to dozens of people (decision makers) I talked to. Others read negative press or heard negative comments from fellow professionals.

I tend to agree - VS gave VFP a slightly improved degree of credibility, but not enough to bring in new people, in my gov't "circle." The biggest problem here is that certain IT people haven't even *looked* at the Fox since FPW, or possibly vfp3, an early and fairly buggy product. Being in VS just didn't seem to help all that much.

One thing that will stand out now (for better or worse) is that vfp sales will be tallied directly, so there will be less surveys or estimation needed to get sales figures, vfp now being once again stand-alone. My guess is we'll see about what we expect there - a reasonable enough quantity of sales to keep the product going, but nothing very large - unless some bigtime marketing is done.
