That's a good idea. I'll ask for references.

>>What is a fair rate for working with a recruiter like Maxim? The job is W-2 and guaranteed for 12 months. I explained that I've heard rates online from $45/hr to $90/hr and up.

>Well, what's "fair" is what's they're willing to pay. Does the 12mos "guarantee" guarantee you get paid 40hrs/week, or do you only get paid for hours they can bill? If that's the case, the 12 month guarante is worthless. If they don't like you they'll simply stop hiring you out.

As I indicated in another reply, I think my statement of a "guarantee" was misleading. I was referring to the term of the contract. I don't know all of the details yet, but I was told that I would be paid for the hours I worked, including above 40. I'll have to ask what happens if the client doesn't want to pay them for the hours I indicate. As far as not being liked, I think that applies to everyone whether full-time or independent. Although, it could be argued it is more of a hassle to fire a full-time employee, your future is bleak if the client or boss is not pleased.

>And if they're hiring you for a specific contract, you might be able to find out who the contract is with.

HCA (Columbia HealthCare) is the client. It is a big contract, so apparently a lot of the contract details have been worked out.

>And is the contract exclusive? Can you work on the side for others? If you're looking to go independent than you'll want to be able to start working on other projects before the 12 months is over.
>
I'll have to find that out as well. I imagine my current company may want to hire me as a consultant on the side if I leave.

>my 2 cents.

Very appreciated. :o)
