>>>Anyone know if there are any comparative figures for the user base of VFP against VB ?
>>
>>I've seen in whitepapers from Microsoft that VB is about 5 million and FoxPro (all versions) is about 500,000 developers. Don't have links though. Sorry.

>I'm going off of memory as well, but I thought the number of VB developers was either 3 or 3.5 million. I guess it all depends on the source. I believe a recent .NET article (about complaining VB developers) mentioned 6 million. It would be nice if MS told us how many copies of VFP7 they sell, but of course, that info will be NDA.
And of course many colleges and universities are teaching Vbasic, and not VFP.
what's more, the colleges will probably not be changing to the VB .NET for some time to come, continuing to graduate VB6. One community college I am familiar with locally, has just decided to drop teaching the C language in favor of VB 6. They tell me that cirriculum changes are for at least 5 years, which suggests that teaching .NET is quite a ways down the road for their students.
