>Now I've seen everything. We have users that send us disks monthly (don't ask, it's a policy thing). We've had the usual mix of things used for mailers and trashed disks but this one guy really takes that cake.

He quit using tape and started putting the label over the door so that you had to peel the door off to read the disk. The whole time he has used manilla envelopes with some form of protection, usually cut up cardboard, newspaper or bubblewrap.

Paul;

I am sure where ever there are people you will find technically handicapped individuals. Some end up as CEO's or janitors. Others go to work for .COM companies or McDonalds.

How about this event which occurred eight years ago, when floppies were popular. The latest greatest version of software was created at the company I worked for. I had suggested a disk copy machine to reduce labor and increase productivity. We created 500 sets of upgrades for our customers and then the disks went to the “Service Team”, who was responsible for packaging and mailing. Mail was sent overnight and customer complaints began the next day and lasted for two weeks. It seems that the “Team” used rubber bands – two big ones – to keep the ten disks together. In case you have not guessed, the one over the metal door of the floppy disk was a problem for disks number 1 and 10. It crushed the doors and ruined the two mentioned floppies.

Another company I worked for had many customers (hospitals) and produced their latest upgrade. They bought the cheapest pre formatted floppies they could find and did not test them. The disks were sent out on a Friday, and the following Monday morning I loaded the new version on my test machine and found “Stealth 3 Virus”. Glad I was a consultant at that company – I was not afraid to alert the director of software. I confirmed the new floppies were the source of the virus. That is not nice!
