You will, but you will not have full text search index. The help text displayed next to the install option says this is needed to use MSDN without using the CDs. I know this is over 100MB to install, but it sure is nice to have available when you are looking for answers to problems that are not always associated directly with VFP.

There are problems that do impact VFP that would not necessarily be found in your search unless you had the full text search capabilities. I do not know this to be a fact because I have always installed this feature, so any time I have done a context type search, I have usually found the answer. So, I really can not afford to not install this feature, and, unless you are really hard up for disk space, I highly recommend installing this feature as well.

>If I UNINSTALL MSDN and reinstall it and do NOT select the FULL INDEX and only install the VFP options, I shouldn't have any problems then? I still will have AN index?

>>You do not have to install everything, but there is a choice near the bottom of the installation selection list to install the full index. If you install that, you will only be prompted for a CD if you select something from your search results that you did not install. If you installed all the VFP help and the KB, chances are when you are prompted for a CD, what you selected is not regarding VFP.

>>>I did that and only installed the VFP stuff. But when the HELP system is running and you use the "index" or "search" features... it looks at EVERYTHING on all the CDs apparently. I just want the VFP stuff ONLY.

I also thought you're prompted to install it after the VFP install, but I could be mistaken. You should be able to start with the MSDN Library CD at this point.
