As I am undoubtedly one of those you intend to so characterise, I must agree that "spin" abounds. I hope you will not mind if I respond in kind...
My recommendation re this quote:
1) SET SPIN OFF
2) READ THE WORDS
To be honest I am reminded of the photos of Times Square when WWI was joined... "Hoorah, We're at War!!!!" cried those who would shortly be maimed or killed in pointless muddy trenches in French fields.
