Evan,

Well, we disagree I guess. <g>

>>Government produces nothing at all. Nothing.
>
>You've never heard of national oil companies, phone companies, public lotteries. These generate wealth just as private companies do.

They ultimately fail Evan. Look at all those that have been sold off. The evidence will show this to be the fact.

>>They are fundamentally in error in their observations and thought processes.

>Left of centre governments in Canada, US and Britain paid down debts incurred by right wing governments in the 80's. It would appear the right wing is flawed economically.
>

Tell me why the EU has been having a hissy fit over Ireland then. And why Ireland's economy is booming and that of the EU is failing.

>>Socialism has never worked anywhere it has been tried. Never.

>Cast your eyes north, it works here just great. 5 years in a row, Canada has been designated the best country to live in by the UN. Just over 135 years old, and we are one of the 10 biggest economies on earth and one of the richest. Look at Europe, more socialism. Truth is of the G8, socialism is the norm not the exception.

Hmm.. Then why do the Canadians all seem to want to come to the US for medical care? Do a little reseacerh and let me know what the waiting time is for a voluntary medical procedure. Compare that with the waiting time here in the States. Dialysis for example.

>>OTOH, look to Irelend that has recently had a virtual explosion in their economy by lowering taxes and taking the free market approach.
>
>New Zealand had the opposite effect.

You're probably not old enough to remember several years back when New Zealand had to sell off a whole lot of governmentally owned industries I suppose. If their economies are doing better it's because of the government getting out of the economy, not because they have gotten into it.

>
>>Hmm.. Let's see.. What works?
>
>We are 1 for 1 on this so far (NZ, Ireland)

Not so. See above. Or should I pile on with Russia, Cuba, China, Sweden, the EU, GB and all the other socialist economies in the world? <g>

>
>Both Canada and Britian have left of centre governments at the moment and their economies are doing well. The US has a right of centre and the economy has been slowing.

We're recovering from Bill Clinton. <g> The whole idea here is to release the pent-up energies of those who wish to bring a better product to market.

>
>There is no evidence that rightist/capitalist policies are good for an economy. See above for evidence to the contrary.

Not so. There's plenty of evidence. It's called America, Irelend and any other country that has followe dthese very simple rules.
Best,
