If you put the + and AND at the end of the line, there is nothing to tell you that the next line is a continuation if you are only scanning the beginning of the line. My way, you get that visual clue either way (beginning or end).
However, try this with "*" for multiplication! The second line will look like a comment. Apparently, VFP syntax-coloring examines only one line at a time.
Even more insidious is the following:
This line will never execute, because of line continuation and comment!
