Steve;
They just raised the rate here also from $39.95 to $45.95 per month. If you have your own cable modem the cost is $10 less per month. My brother bought his own modem. Two positives:
1. Speed
2. You are not using a phone line.
I considered having a second phone installed at home which costs $20 a month and add to that the cost of a regular 56K ISP - another $23. We waited six weeks for PacBell to install a second line and after several crews came out they could not figure out how to do it. So, I guess the hand writing is on the wall. By the way - I live in the "heart" of Silicon Valley, and we just got AT&T@home in our neighborhood a few weeks ago. Strange thing this technology! It happens where it happens and when it feels like it.
