>It's always the same thing. The modem blinks at the PortOpen command and that's it. It worked twice out of 40 tries. The modem is fine. I can send faxes from Word and all is well. Even if it does not in VFP, I just switch to Word to do a test and it always work. However, I can't understand why OutBufferCount returns 0 right after the OutPut line. Isn't it suppose to contain to number of bytes waiting to be sent?

It would depend on how quickly the data was sent, at 9600 baud it's around 1ms per character. If the default baud rate is higher, then it proprtionately quicker.

Are you sure the baud rate & parity setting are suitable for the modem - if the receive lights are flashing on the modem, then something is being sent - if the settings are wrong then the modem will be seeing garbage. Having said that, a lot of modern modems will match their baud rate automatically.

Try sending a few CHR(13)'s first - the modem buffer may have garbage in it.
