sys(5) (AFAIK) does not return spaces & there is no macro substitution in the second part of Lucien's problem. So, as far as I see it, your theory on the problem is just as much FUD as Andrews. You saw one part of the problem, & made a judgement on it without addressing the second part of the problem. David Frankenbach has agreed that there must be something else going on, so it's not just me with that opinion.
