I have been given a totally simple project to pump out and am going to use it as an oportunity to go to a middle data handling tier. I want to use Jim Booth's article "Building Middle Tier Objects in Visual Foxpro". In it he offered a simplified data handler object. The article as far as it went presents no problem to me but as always the devil is in the detials.

I use a "FastFind" system which my users are acustomed to seeing. In it I display a grid on a seperate form & using the ingrid component they can incrementally select from the displayed records sorted by which ever column they are in.

Using the data component (calls an RDO connection so far), I am afraid pulling down large numbers of records over say an intranet connection will be too slow for this type of thing.

What do other people do to populate grids & combo boxes etc. over these remote link situations.

Thanks in advance

Terry

P.S. Yes I need to update my personal message. Any ideas for a different joke line?
It is impossible to make programs idiot proof. Idiots are too cleaver.
